Geelong Venom sign Indiana great Mackenzie Holmes

Geelong Venom has added American forward Mackenzie Holmes to its roster for the upcoming WNBL season.

The 6'3" Maine native was drafted 26th overall by the Seattle Storm in 2024 after a standout career at Indiana University, where she became the program’s all-time leading scorer (2,530 points), first-ever first-team All-American, and led the Hoosiers to four NCAA Tournament appearances.

Holmes, who returned this year from knee surgery, said she chose Geelong because of the team’s culture: “Fans can expect someone who will work hard every day, bring energy, and do whatever it takes to win.”

Head coach Chris Lucas said Holmes brings both talent and leadership: “She has great hands, finishes exceptionally well around the basket, and sets a standard with her professionalism. Mackenzie will strengthen us on the floor and in the locker room.”
