Geelong Venom appoint assistant coach Kaleb Sclater

Geelong Venom has confirmed the appointment of Kaleb Sclater as assistant coach for the upcoming WNBL season.

Sclater, currently Head of Basketball at Western Heights College and head coach of the Melbourne Tigers NBL1 women’s team, previously assisted Geelong’s WNBL program in 2024 under Chris Lucas. He has worked with both emerging juniors and elite athletes, including Opals stars Jade Melbourne and Sara Blicavs.

CEO Mark Neeld said Sclater’s appointment reflected the club’s focus on both performance and player development, while head coach Chris Lucas praised his ability to connect with athletes and drive growth: “Kaleb played a really important role with us last year, particularly in player development and game review. We are fortunate to have him back on board.”

Sclater said he was excited to contribute to the program: “It’s a privilege to be part of this club at such an exciting time. I’m looking forward to working with Chris and the group to help establish a culture that challenges and supports our athletes.”
