The Geelong Venom are thrilled to announce that guard Indiah Bowyer has committed with the club ahead of the 2026/27 WNBL season. The 23-year-old Cairns product joins the Venom's growing roster under incoming head coach Cheryl Chambers, adding youth, energy, and proven WNBL experience to the squad.
Bowyer stays in Geelong having most recently impressed with Geelong United in the NBL1 and brings with her WNBL-level experience from her time with the Southside Melbourne Flyers. She is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young guards in the country - a player whose best basketball is firmly ahead of her.
"We are genuinely thrilled to have Indi on board. What she brings goes well beyond what you see on the stat sheet - she's a fierce competitor, and someone who makes everyone around her better," said Chambers.
"She has shown she can perform at this level, and I have no doubt she will be an important part of what we're building here in Geelong. We can't wait to get to work."
For Bowyer, the decision to commit with the Venom was straightforward - driven by the community she has already embraced through her time in Geelong and the chance to grow within a program she believes in.
"The community around this club is something special - seeing that support up close this offseason really made me feel welcome and settled, and it made this decision a no-brainer," said Bowyer.
"It's an amazing opportunity to grow alongside the girls and Cheryl over the seasons, and I'm excited about what we can build together."
A dynamic presence on both ends of the floor, Bowyer's game is built on versatility, instinct, and competitive intensity. Her experience at WNBL level with the Southside Melbourne Flyers gave her a sharp understanding of what it takes to compete at the elite end of the women's game - lessons she is determined to bring to Geelong.
"That experience taught me exactly what areas of my game I need to develop to compete at this level," said Bowyer. "That high standard really rubs off on you, and I'm coming here wanting to be a sponge - to develop, to be reliable and consistent, and to be whatever the team and Cheryl need me to be."
Bowyer's commitment is another statement of intent from the Venom as they continue to build a roster capable of challenging for finals. With Chambers at the helm and a core taking shape, Geelong fans have plenty of reason to be excited about what's coming.
